Steve Parry (Courtenay Elementary, Grades K/1)
|
Steve was born and raised in the Vancouver area. He was an English language teacher for adult immigrants and refugees before becoming an elementary school teacher. In 2012, he accepted a teaching position in Prince George, BC. Steve’s journey in Montessori teaching began when he was a teacher on call at the public Montessori school. He was drawn to the approach to teaching and learning he saw and pursued becoming a Montessori teacher. Steve worked in a lower elementary class (ages 6-9) for five years, and along the way, received his Montessori teacher certification from the Centre for Guided Montessori Studies. After seven long winters in Prince George, Steve moved to the Comox Valley in 2019 to teach in the Montessori program at Queneesh Elementary. In 2020, the Montessori program expanded by opening a K/1 class at Courtenay Elementary. Steve is delighted to be working and learning alongside the diverse and vibrant community of families at Courtenay Elementary!
